Tour Nº 1

Culture, jungle and visits.

Day 1: Encounter with the Kichwa culture Leave Misahuallí to the Cabins of Shiripuno and settle in. Encounter with the women of the Amukishmi Association with a guide who will explains about the project of community tourism and the organizations of the women who manage it. A walk to the plantations of banana, cacao, and yuca to understand the agricultural world and the harvest of the products. Typical lunch on the community (fish cooked in a palm leaf in fire, with yuca, papaya and medicinal tea). Participate in the various workshops with the women (handicrafts, ceramics, basket making, and traps for fishing or hunting, fishing with nets in the River Napo, washing gold…) Preparations of chocolate with the local cacao to try it with local fruits for dessert. Dinner (soups, chicken with vegetable cooked in a palm leaf, rice, juice and banana with chocolate. Night walk to seek out the caimans.

Day 2: Traditions: trip down the River Napo Breakfast: Quimbolito with marmalade, tea or coffee, juice, eggs and fruit salad. Travel down the river by motorized canoe to the cabins of Sinchi Sacha (45mins). At the entrance to the primary forest. Settle in to the cabins and lunch plants. During the afternoon walk through the jungle to get to know the medicinal plants Dinner and night walk through the primary forest to observe insect, phosphorescent mushrooms…… Day 3: in the heart of the jungle Breakfast pancake with marmalade, tea or coffee, juice, eggs and fruit salad.

Option 1: Walk through the primary forest to the waterfall of the Rio Blanco with a guide who will explain all about the flora, medicinal plants, secrets of the jungle, insects found…… Lunch at the waterfall, with the chance to swim and return to the River Napo, to return to Misahuallí by motorized canoe.

Option 2 : Leave by motorized canoe to the River Arajuno, visit to a museum about the hunting and fishing traps used by the locals, visit to the Amazoonico a rescue center for animals, lunch on a river beach, with the chance to swim and a visit to a family who makes local ceramics, before the return by motorized canoe to Misahuallí.

Day 2 Breakfast: Quimbolito with marmalade, tea or coffee, juice, eggs and fruit salad. Leave by motorized canoes for 45 mins until the entrance of the primary forest to start a walk to the waterfalls of the river Blanco with a guide who will explain about the flora, medicinal plants, secrets of the jungle, insects found…… Lunch at the waterfall, with the chance to swim and settle in to the camp (with the chance to sleep with a family or cabins in the community who work with tourism)

Day 3 Breakfast Pancake with marmalade, tea or coffee, juice, eggs and fruit salad. Walk back to the river Napo where we lunch before taking the motorized canoe back to Misahuallí..

Four day tours

Adventure in the Virgin Jungle

Tour Nº 1

Day 1: Leave from Misahuallí by bus and car to the “Comuna Los Rios”, half way between Misahuallí and Coca, where we carry on the journey by motorized canoe. After 3 hours of walk we arrive at our camp in the primary forest. Settle in overnight in tents and preparation of dinner.

2nd and 3rd days After breakfast we leave for a day’s walk through the primary forest, walking along the rivers following the animal tracks if we are lucky, fishing in the rivers, handicrafts… Your guide a specialist in the area will explain about the medicinal plants, snakes, traps making, survival methods and secrets of the Amazon. Return to camp, rest, dinner and night walk to discover the insect and animals.

4th day: leave camp after breakfast and return to Misahuallí

SEE THE 5 DAY TOURS TO DO THIS TRIP FLOATING DOWN THE RIVER BY RAFT, JUST AS DOWN IN THE OLD DAYS Conditions: Living with nature, learning to live in the jungle, chances to see animals like monkeys, tapirs, armadillos, caimans, toucans….. Help with the preparations of food, carrying of the tents, and overnight in tents, long journeys, and good physical conditions.)

Day 4 Breakfast pancake with marmalade, tea or coffee, juice, eggs and fruit salad Leave by motorized canoe to the River Arajuno, visit to a museum about hunting and fishing traps used by the locals, visit to the amazoonico a rescue center for animals, lunch on a river beach with the chance to swim and visit to a family that make ceramics and return to Misahuallí

Tour 3

Through the Kichwa culture and the nature

From the prehistoric times the Amazonia has been populated by nomads mainly hunter and collectors. Today we propose to you a unique and spiritual journey through time and space with the means to relate this Kichwa history that is today sedentary. During this journey we will discover its traditions, it´s culture and we can appreciate it´s closeness to nature.

Day 1 In the heart of the community We cross the River Napo to the community of Shiripuno and get settled into the cabins. We start a walk to the plantations of yuca, banana and cacao. Si you like we can help with a machete and feel the hard work under the heat of the Amazonia. We return to the community to admire the dance of the women and the sacred stone. Returning to the community we can help in the preparation of the typical food or simply try it. During most of the afternoon we will be busy with the women of the community making handicrafts. One of our objectives will be to make a trap to capture fish. At evening time only an hour will be enough to transform the chocolate seed to try it out with bananas. After dinner, a shamanic ceremony will open a door to the profoundness of this culture.

Day 2: Inmersion in the nature At 9 AM we leave the community. Accompanied by and indigenous Kichwa guide we take a canoe downriver. We start to walk in the heart of the natural reserve called Jatun Sacha, a primary forest for around 4 or 5 hours. We will discover animals, insects and all about medicinal plants used by the community. The walk will last most of the day until we arrive at the campsite where we can rest, eat and enjoy some Kichwa legends.

Day 3. In the heart of the jungle. After breakfast we start a walk through the primary jungle we reach the River Liuchuna for around 5hours to deepen our knowledge of the jungle, plants and trap then we can calmly go on down to the River Arajuno. In the afternoon we will return to camp to rest and have dinner.

Day 4 to the rhythm of the water After breakfast, we leave by motorized canoe or oar canoe if we have the chance, to visit a museum about traps for hunting and fishing used by the locals, a visit to the amazoonico a rescue center for wild animals, lunch on a river beach, with the chance to swim and a visit to a family that makes Kichwa ceramics and return to Misahuallí

Five day tour

Down the River Napo by Balsa Raft and adventure in the virgin jungle.

Day 1 Making of a balsa raft. But the trees, take off the bark, put together the raft to leave in the afternoon, set up camp on a beach on the River Napo and prepare dinner.

Day 2 After breakfast we continue our journey floating on the waters of the river until Puerto Rico were we leave our transport to star a 3 hours walk until our campsite in the primary forest. Set up camp, over night in tents and preparation of dinner.

3rd and 4th days Breakfast and leave for a day’s walk through the virgin jungle, along the rivers and following the tracks of animals (if we are lucky) fishing in the rivers, handicrafts… Explications of the medicinal plants, snakes, making of traps, methods of survival in the jungle, secrets of the jungle. Return to camp, rest, dinner and night walk to discover insects and animals.

Day 5 Leave the camp after breakfast and return to Misahuallí Conditions: Survival with nature, learning t olive in the jungle, the chance to see animals like monkeys, tapirs, armadillos, caimans, toucans,….. Help with the preparation of food, carry the equipment, overnight in tents, long transport, you need to be in good physical conditions.
